Rezeptli is a local-first recipe manager. This policy explains what data the app handles and, just as importantly, what it doesn't.
Rezeptli does not collect, transmit, or sell any personal data. There is no account, no login, and no analytics or tracking SDK of any kind embedded in the app. We (the developer) have no server and no way to see your recipes, your photos, or how you use the app.
All recipes, ingredients, photos, and grocery lists are stored locally on your device in a private, on-device database. Nothing leaves your device unless you explicitly choose to export, share, or sync it (see below).
If you enable iCloud sync, your recipe data is stored as a file in your own private iCloud container, associated with your Apple ID. This is Apple's iCloud infrastructure, governed by Apple's own privacy policy — we have no access to this data. Recipe images are intentionally excluded from sync and remain local to each device.
If you choose to add a photo to a recipe, Rezeptli requests access to your camera or photo library. Selected images are copied into the app's local storage and are never transmitted anywhere by us.
If you use the "Import from YouTube" feature, the video URL you paste is used to fetch caption/transcript data directly from YouTube's servers so it can be parsed into a recipe. This request is made only when you initiate it, and only the URL you provide is sent — no other information about you or your device is included.
Recipe translation uses Apple's on-device Foundation Models. Your recipe text is processed entirely on your device and is never sent to us or to any third party.
Optional tip jar purchases are processed entirely by Apple through StoreKit. We do not receive or store your payment information — Apple's own privacy policy governs that transaction.
Recipes you explicitly export or share (as a file, or via a share link) are sent only to the destination you choose — for example, the Messages, Mail, or Files app you pick from the system share sheet. We are not a party to that transfer.
Rezeptli does not knowingly collect any data from anyone, including children, because it does not collect data at all.
If this policy changes — for example, if a future feature introduces a server — this page will be updated and the "Last updated" date above will reflect that.
